Moreover Freddie Mercury devotes much of his creative energy to Queen, he has a huge appetite for music outside the parameters of the group. Freddie often ventured into the uncharted world of solo actions.

Special edition of EMI / Аniмато Music from September 4, 2006 is devoted to the 60th anniversary of Freddie Mercury. In “The Very Best of Freddie Mercury Solo”.

Most people think Freddie’s solo career began in 1985 with the Mr. Bad Guy album, but actually it is happening much earlier – back in 1973 with his cover versions of I Can Hear Music of the Beach Boys and Goin ‘ Back of the Goffin-King, released as the A as well as B sides of his first solo single under the nickname Larry Lurex. hence the single gone without trace, it is not surprising that few know about starting a solo career. either pieces are included in the issue now.

Some of the other songs here are from the first official solo album, Mr. Bad Guy, recorded in 1983/85 in Munich during a period in which Freddie tightly controls the club scene in town. His partiality to dance music all around him can be clearly seen in tracks such as I Was Born To Love You and Living On My Own (which, remixed in 1993, Freddie’s posthumously No.1 hit, Ivor Novello award and surprisingly No.1 single of his solo career).

Freddie’s the love to theater and great admiration for his first pop idol Cliff Richard, shown in the song Time, the title song in the successful Dave Clarke’s musical and featuring Cliff Richard (the show, coincidentally was played at the Dominion Theatre, now home of the smash musical hit – We Will Rock You).

One of the most fulfilling musical periods of the Freddy’s life was his musical love affair with Spanish opera diva Montserrat Caballe. From this uncommon, but magical union was born Barcelona, which Freddie wrote for Montserrat’s hometown and which became the theme for the Olympic Games in 1992, and the magestic drama Guide Me Home and How Can I Go On.

Although Freddy’s solo albums released only twice – Mr. Bad Guy and Barcelona, there is evidence that he had plans, and worked on the covers projects. It is likely that this is behind the origin of one of his most popular singles, his version of the classics of The Platters’ – The Great Pretender, issued by Freddie in 1987 (when it reached No.4) and then reissued in 1993.

The album ends with a poignant version of Guide Me Home in the implementation of the Swiss jazz pianist and artist of the label – Thierry Lang, Freddie’s townsman of his last home – Montreux. Special arrangement and recording of the song is personal Lang’s bow to Freddie Mercury.

Besides the single version, the album will have also double special edition, which will be paid by Animato Music / EMI. While in CD1, with few exceptions, the songs appear in their original form, the second part of this publication includes new and rare remixes. More than half the tracks are mixes from 2006.

In detection of Freddie’s own passion for new melodic adventures and his love for the club scene, his favorites songs are entrusted in the hands of some of the most recognized today remixer: Pixel82, The Glimmers, George Demure, Sunshine People, Rank 1, Star Rider , No More Brothers and The Egg. All they have processed the Freddie’s originals in a new and unpredictable way.

On a additional retrospective degree, a vocal and piano interpretation of Your Kind of Lover, and Let’s Turn It On performance. These pieces were selected to show Freddy in his everyday living during his work in the studio, and to highlight his extraordinary talent as an author and as one of the finest vocalists of all time. In the words of Brian May, Freddie sang with joy and spontaneity that seem to derive from the air as his inspiration. Or from his heart. This man can hardly be compared to anyone because he combined composing with such outstanding performance. ”
